John graduated in medicine from the University of Sydney in 1973 and completed his training in general pathology in 1981, after spending over twelve months in general practice. John commenced pathology registrar training at ICPMR, Westmead Hospital in 1976.
Before joining Southern.IML Pathology in 1991, John was Chairman of the Division of Investigative Medicine at the Launceston General Hospital, Tasmania, and Director of Tamar Pathology in Launceston.
John is a member of the International Academy of Cytology, the International Academy of Pathology and the Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists. John's practice interests include fine needle aspiration cytology, histopathology (with special interest in gastrointestinal pathology and dermatopathology) and general clinical pathology.
John has been an RCPA Examiner in Anatomical Pathology for several years and in 2005 was also appointed Chief Examiner in General and Clinical Pathology.
