Dr Ian Chambers is a graduate of Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand. He began his pathology training in medical microbiology in Wellington, New Zealand, before moving to Adelaide and then to Sydney. He joined the Douglass practice in 1988.
Ian is a Medical Microbiologist and his areas of specialty include bacteriology, virology and microbial serology. Although laboratory based, he has maintained his involvement in the hospital setting, and serves on a number of infection control committees.
Ian encourages consultation with referring doctors regarding diagnostic testing for infectious diseases, interpretation of laboratory results, and advice on antibiotic use. He also has a special interest in travel medicine and is happy to advise in this field.
